The recent White Coat Gala benefitting the JPS Foundation of Fort Worth was a huge success! The band and I were so honored to be a part of it. It was a gathering of over 600 generous supporters of the foundation. With a Roaring 20’s theme expertly carried out by the talented crew at Pugnacious Marketing. Here’s a few pics from the event taken by the great Roman Peña.
Higher by Creed! From their 1999 album Human Clay. This was a huge song for them and a pretty awesome challenge for us to do it in this mostly “unplugged” style. Kevin played the lead guitar part on a Resonator guitar and we added keys and a bunch of harmonies in the bridge and chorus that we thought sounded pretty cool.
I think the wildest thing for me was to sing it normal and try not to sound like Scott Stapp ‘s vocal stylings. I mean, practically everyone I know can do an impersonation of him!

Our dear friends in Weatherford, TX have been bringing the band and me out to their ranch on the Brazos River for their massive Halloween party for 16 years now. And when it comes to costumes these people don’t hold back, it’s epic! This year’s Full Haunty was as wild and amazing as ever. Tex-Mex from Rosa’s Cafe, Jell-O shots, and a costume contest – good times! The band and I decided to go classic scary monsters. So fun!
From Trevor Hall’s 2009 self-titled album. A beautiful song about the shared love of the Devine no matter what your personal spiritual beliefs may be. There’s a version of this song on the album that features a collaboration with Matisyahu that is definitely worth checking out.
From the Las Vegas hitmakers’ 2017 album Evolve. I always admired this song and thought it was a great tune. I shot all my footage at half speed and then sped it up to “normal speed” so I looked even more pissed.
From the Los Angeles folk rock group Dawes’ debut album North Hills, released in 2009. I’ve heard they recorded the entire album live to tape in Laurel Canyon, CA. I mean, you just can’t get any cooler than that, in my opinion.
