George Harrison and The Beatles’ beautiful song from the classic 1969 album Abbey Road. We recorded this live with no overdubs, only took us seven takes đ
Harmony Hall by Vampire Weekend from their 2019 album, Father Of The Bride. I always thought they were a fascinating band and this song is especially great. We had some help from the amazing Clay Willis on guitar, guest vocalists Alaina Gunter and Christa Russell and special guest cameos from my friends Charles Gaby and Katsuk.
Special thanks to Greg Luce for helping me shoot this video!
Lyrics Sound of something woke me this morning, just before the dawn Poured myself a cup of coffee and put my old blue jeans on Sounded like an old bluegrass band, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs And there sat my old guitar, a 1960âs Gibson Dove.
In this room we always played, Iâd love to live days again On and on every Saturday night, seemed like it would never end
Howâd we get from there to here, how did we stay alive? Keeping all our love around or keeping it inside? Howâd we find the words to say, how did we ever know That a moment could last forever or it could just up and go.
April it came without warning in the spring of â69 Blue-eyed boy, a bundle of joy gonna carry the family line Wonât be headed off to war, the college plans fell through Six days on an assembly line seemed like the honest thing to do.
Howâd we get from there to here, how did we stay alive? Keeping all our love around or keeping it inside? Howâd we find the words to say, how did we ever know That a moment could last forever or it could just up and go.
How about the time I met your mom, took her months for her to go Still the same all our love remains, itâs her you favor most Been 40 years since my daddy died, seems like he still ainât gone Smell a pipe and a Zippo lighter itâs like heâs right here at home
Mama said heâs the only one, somehow she always knew Heart of gold and an immeasurable soul still had to leave him a time or two.
Howâd we get from there to here, how did we stay alive? Keeping all our love around or keeping it inside? Howâd we find the words to say, how did we ever know That a moment could last forever or it could just up and go.
I’ll be returning to my favorite local wine bar the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The shows there are always a great time. I don’t believe they take reservations, it’s first come first serve if you want to grab a table.

Our cover of Brett Dennen‘s 2003 song Blessed. Super-fun tune, and really catchy! Our dear friend Rich Stitzel recorded his drum part from his home studio in Chicago, IL. Such a fun collaboration!

My band and me covering a wonderful âȘIris DeMent song from her ’92 album Infamous Angel. I first heard of this song when âȘNatalie Merchant⏠and 10,000 Maniacs covered it on MTV Unplugged and released it on their 2004 album “Campfire Songs: The Popular, Obscure and Unknown Recordings of 10,000 Maniacs” with âȘDavid Byrne joining on vocals. It was also the main title theme to The Leftovers Season 2 and series finale!
